Tourism operators in the Whitsundays expect a boost in 2012 from a $7 million airport upgrade.
Tourism Whitsundays chief Peter O’Reilly told AAP the addition of a new terminal at Whitsunday Coast Airport should bring increased flights to the region.
“It’s an important gateway to the region, and now it’s a very professional gateway, as opposed to the previous one that was probably best described as quaint,” he said.
