Sister Cities Conference – Toowoomba – 2011

CULTURAL diversity will be on the agenda when about 60 delegates from across the world unite in Toowoomba, Queensland, for the Sister Cities Australia conference.

The conference will be held at Toowoomba’s City Golf Club from Sunday, August 14 to Wednesday, August 17.

While conference speakers will address both the economic and cultural exchange aspects of sister city relations, delegates will also be encouraged to trade information during interactive workshops.

Toowoomba’s hosting of the Sister Cities Australia conference marks some significant milestones.

In 2011, the region celebrates 20 years of Sister City relationships with Takatsuki, Japan, 30 years with the New Zealand city of Wanganui and nine years with Paju in South Korea.

The Sister Cities Australia conference will be officially opened by Queensland Governor Ms Penelope Wensley.

Keynote speakers will include the United Nations Youth Ambassador 2011, Benson Saulo and media specialist Tammy Wilson who has worked for the British Labor Governments of Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
