On 14 November 2012 a total solar eclipse will be visible in Northern Australia and the Pacific Islands.

Cairns and Port Douglas in Far North Queensland has been identified as one of the best places to see this spectacular astronomical phenomenon take place.

This amazing total solar eclipse will last from 5.45am to 7.40am on Wednesday 14 November 2012.

The total solar eclipse will be seen along a strip of land about 200km wide which crosses the top of eastern Australia and the Coral Sea.
