The announcement of a new international airline flying into Darwin is good news for Darwin and the Top End in general. It is going to be important for Darwin to maintain its tourist base in the face of pressure from the resources and defence sectors.
With the expansion of natural gas processing near Darwin, there is the risk of this overpowering local tourism, as has happened in other places exposed to the resources boom.

Hotel operators across the globe are more optimistic about business trends in 2012 than they had been last year a survey has found.
The recent survey compiled by Horwath Hotel, Tourism and Leisure (HTL) which gathers responses from over 40 countries, revealed that while Asia and the US continues to flourish Europe remains flat.

Every year thousands of people travel between Melbourne and Brisbane and also the other way. On trips this long, it is good to know where you can find overnight accommodation for at least one night. Of course if you are spending some time looking at local attractions, sampling some of the delicious morning and afternoon teas that are for sale along the way, the trip could be even a few more days.

The announcement that the Gold Coast has won the rights to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games has caused much excitement, especially amongst political circles in the lead up to the next Queensland state election.
Certainly the games will provide the impetus for many businesses to plan and implement a program of refurbishment and upgrade that has been needing to be done for quite some time at a list of accommodations and attractions.

Here is an interesting articled reprinted from The China Daily.
It shows that Queensland is a place that is being pushed, not only by Tourism Queensland, but happily by the Chinese media. In addition to India, China represents a huge source of visitors for switched-on operators in the tourism market.
I discovered for myself why the Gold Coast, in Australia’s Queensland, is so well named. On the final day of my visit Down Under, I struggled out of my large soft bed at 5 am and took a five-minute walk down the main road to the beach. The tranquility at dawn was broken by the murmur of surf and rustle of leaves.

Australia has been awarded as the “Best Country to Visit Worldwide” in this year’s British Travel Awards.
The award, which is decided by nominations from travel industry professionals and then a public vote by over 700,000 Brits, has seen Australia finish ahead of European destinations Spain and Italy.
Tourism Australia Managing Director Andrew McEvoy said the award win confirms Australia’s continued desirability as a holiday destination.
