About Sydney

If you are a tourist or sightseer, Sydney, the birthplace of Australia is a fascinating place to spend a few days or even longer doing some sightseeing.

Sydney is the site of the first permanent white colonisation of Australia and the city clusters around the famous harbour, sometimes atop towewring sandstone cliffs and at other time reaching down to the harbour's sparkling blue waters.

Take in the sights like the Sydney Opera House, the Harbour Bridge arching between North Sydney and the Rocks area. Or travel over to the zoo on a ferry - sun shining on blue sparkling water

Here is some Sydney tourist information.

Sydney's Climate

Sydney enjoys a temperate, semi-humid climate with plentry of sunny days. The sunshine is well spread through the year. In fact, Sydney basks in more blue-sky days in winter than in summer. Given the strong summer sun, this is considered a blessing by many of Sydney’s fair-skinned citizens. Summer temperatures can reach 35C though generally temperatuures are closer to 28, with overnight lows around 19C. Winter temperatures can be as low as 15C, with night temperatures to around 8C. Rain can be expected at any time of the year, with no defined rainy seaon. There is, however, a far greater chance of the day being sunny than not!

'Must Sees' for tourists and sightseers

Now matter if you are an international tourist or a day tripper to the capital city of NSW, a popular destination for all is Darling Harbour. Featuring dozens of activities for all ages, Darling Harbour also features many fine eateries. It is also home to Australia's largest cinema screen, Sydney Aquarium, Chinese Gardens, and the Powerhouse Museum that has brilliant exhibitions covering science, technology, decorative arts, design and Australian social history. One of the best ways to experience Darling Harbour and its many attractions at big savings is with a Darling Harbour Superticket.

Access to Darling Harbour is via a five to ten minute walk from Sydney’s CBD, an easy trip by train, bus, Metro Monorail and Metro Light Rail Check all public transport timetables and fares or a great excuse to get on the harbour and enter by water taxi, ferry, harbour cruise or jet boat.  If you prefer to drive, you’ll find conveniently located parking stations located all around the Harbour.

A very popular activity for the daredevil is taking a Bridge climb. Bookings are essential.

On the Eastern side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge is the Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay. Circular Quay is the central hub of the ferry services that access most parts of Sydney Harbour, as is also where buskers and street artists can often be found entertaining the crowds. Close by is the Circular Quay railway station. From here you can do the city loop line or access other train stations to take you further a field. The Opera House is the iconic landmark along the the Bridge and attracts thousands of visitors every day.

Close to the CBD is the historic Rocks area. Fortunately saved from redevelopment in the 1970s, this area provides a unique glimpse into early Sydney. Why not take in a  Sydney in a Day Tour that includes seeing all the main attractrions and more that Sydney has to offer, inluding famous Manly and Bondi Beaches!.

A very popular destination is Taronga Zoo. Located on the northern side of the harbour, you need to allow at least a 1/2 day to appreciate all the displays.

If you are on a tight schedule why not see Sydney in a Day!
